Preparing Your Home for an Easter Celebration

Preparing Your Home for an Easter Celebration

It might feel like Easter is off the table this year because schools are closed and we’re all practicing social distancing and staying home. But, as the Queen mentioned, this might be when we need the holiday spirit the most. Celebrating Easter and the beauty of spring may seem a bit sad under these circumstances, but it doesn’t have to be. Less access to the usual things for decorating means we might get a creative boost, according to cognitive research.

Since we can’t rely on our usual habit of buying everything we need, this is a great chance to try something new. For decorations, even if you won’t have guests visiting your doorstep this Easter, putting together something nice for your own enjoyment can still lift your spirits. An Easter or spring wreath can do the trick. You could draw inspiration from the 33cm Egg Easter Wreath from a store like Lights4Fun, which mixes pastel eggs with twigs and tiny lights. Instead of buying, try making your own using a Rattan Grapevine Wreath, some Mini Eggs from the supermarket, artificial daisies from Hobbycraft, and, if you have them stored away, Christmas lights.

Our world has shrunk in recent weeks; with our homes and gardens acting as our entire universe. To spruce up outdoor spaces, consider wicker furniture, particularly rattan, which is lightweight yet strong enough for garden use. Cube tables and dining sets add a neat touch, or you might consider redwood furniture for a richer look. Keep in mind, though, that redwood will need occasional cleaning and maintenances, unlike rattan.

In the kitchen, something simple and fun for the kids could be chocolate cornflake cakes. Just melt half a chocolate bar with some golden syrup and mix it with cornflakes and Mini Eggs. This treat has been a favorite for spring festivals for years. For a special family meal, roast chicken is a great go-to dish. It pairs well with your choice of vegetables and is easy to prepare; you just need a chicken, stock cubes, gravy, potatoes, and either peas or mixed veggies. Enhance the flavors by basting with butter and garlic cloves, and season with bay leaves, salt, and pepper.

As for how celebrities are handling things, it seems the lockdown is giving us a glimpse into their real lives. We see them at home, sometimes looking as stir-crazy as we feel. Like Liam Hemsworth lounging around, or Justin Bieber playing games in his luxurious house. Even David Beckham is joining in with Easter-egg hunts. While all this could feel like a promotional campaign, many celebrities are also connecting in more genuine ways. Rochelle and Marvin Humes have started sharing more personal glimpses into their family life on social media, something Rochelle hadn’t done before to protect her kids from the paparazzi. This might be a turning point, allowing celebrities to become more open and relatable figures moving forward.

Whatever your plans this Easter, we hope you make it a joyful one!
